The Royal Navy may suffer heavy cuts and lose as many as eight warships as a result of an internal review of all spending by the Armed Forces. Each of the services is drawing up proposals for cutting back on expenditure to present to ministers for this year’s comprehensive spending review, to be carried out by Gordon Brown, the Chancellor.
