South Africa’s “new look” America’s Cup racing machine yacht Shosholoza RSA 83 has been given a big thumbs up by the team following the start of sea trials in the icy winter Mediterranean off Valencia, Spain this week. The yacht has a new bow, and the stern, rig, sails and rudder have been substantially modified to eke out more speed for the South Africans who have their sights on a semi-final slot in the Louis Vuitton Cup challenger selection series starting in April. The winner races the defender, the Swiss Team Alinghi, for the 32nd America’s Cup in June this year.
