Transas is proud to have equipped the gas tanker ‘SKF Tobolsk’ built at the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyards for UNICOM (Cyprus), the subsidiary of Russian shipowner Sovkomflot.

The ship was named after the Russian town Tobolsk, now one of the centres of the country’s oil industry. The gas tanker of 26 400 tons displacement has 35 000 cubic metres tonnage and is intended for marine transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and ammonia. Gas is liquefied for ease of transportation and storage. LNG is best known for its use in the production of ecological automotive fuel. A full shipload on ‘SKF Tobolsk’ equates to enough LNG to refuel 400 000 automobiles.
