Nakilat to buy 8 LNG ships from Samsung and Daewoo

Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) is acquiring eight Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) tankers, valued at over QR2bn, to transport the produce from QatarGas 4 whose major market is the North America. As part of its massive ship acquisition programme, Nakilat has signed agreement with two Korean shipyards – Samsung Heavy Industries and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Company – for the construction of four each of ‘QFlex’ and ‘QMax’ vessels at a cost respectively of around $250mn and $300mn each.
