The fate of Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust’s (JNPT) crucial Rs 800 crore dredging project is likely to be decided next week. Once that is decided, clarity will emerge on what kind of large vessels can berth at the port. Four international dredging companies — Boskalis, Van Oord BV of Netherlands, Jan De Nul of Belgium and Dredging International — had bid for the project. Except for Jan De Nul’s bid, which was rejected, other three were short-listed after they withdrew their conditional bids.
