On May 22nd 2007, a 16,400dwt petroleum/chemical carrier built for Norway STENERSEN was off the third product line in Jiangnan Changxing shipbuilding base, which therefore indicated the actual start of the shipbuilding in Changxing base. A big buoyancy tank in 210meters long 30meters wide and 4.5 meters high held the vessel up and moved it into an artificial harbor basin. After draining, caisson and a series of processes, this 16,400dwt vessel finally pulled over to the outfitting quay. This was the first ship that implemented the buoyancy tank launch, a new technology, in Changxing base.
