Chinese shipbuilders won more orders than their Korean rivals for the first time in the first half of the year, but they still lag behind Korea in terms of quality and competitiveness, the Financial Times reported Thursday. The Chinese State Oceanic Administration recently said orders won by Chinese shipbuilders, in terms of dead weight tonnage, surged 165 percent to 49.9 million DWTs in the first half of the year, overtaking Korean competitors who won 42.8 million DWTs.
