BW Offshore, the Norwegian oil services company, is encouraged in its plans to bid for the FPSO unit of fellow Norwegian driller Prosafe by the latter’s recent split announcement, a BW Offshore source said.

The source said the company viewed the announcement by Prosafe last week that it would split its FPSO and accommodation rig units into two focused listed companies as a very encouraging first step in the process of BW buying the FPSO unit of Prosafe.
