Last week, Port Pipavav received three state-of-the-art, post-panamax quay cranes and 10 RTGs from ZPMC, China. The quay cranes have been designed keeping in mind the increasing vessel sizes on the West Coast of India and to deliver world-class operations at the port. The new quay cranes are amongst the biggest cranes to be deployed in any port in India, with an outreach of 53m (18 across), total lift of 58m (40m above crane rail) and a capacity of 61MT under the spreader with twin-lift capability. Critical components for the cranes have been sourced from renowned suppliers such as ABB, Siemens, Pirelli etc.
