Maersk Oil has participated in the ninth Brazilian oil and gas exploration licence round and was successful in four bids.

Maersk Oil was awarded blocks C-M-560 and C-M-591 in the South Campos basin as operator (50% interest) together with OGX (50% interest). The blocks cover an area of approximately 360 square kilometers, situated some 100 kilometers southeast off the coast of Rio de Janeiro at a water depth of 100 – 150 meters. The commitment comprises acquisition of 3D seismic data and drilling of two exploration wells.
