Plans to dredge the entrance to Scalloway harbour have been put on hold after the proposed cost of the job rose to more than £4 million. Shetland Islands Council’s harbour board had wanted to deepen the entrance to 9.5 metres to attract oil vessels into the port and priced the job at £2.2 million.
