Somali pirates hijacked a Panama-flagged cargo freighter off Somalia as it was sailing to the Romanian port of Constanza, AFP reports quoting a Kenyan maritime official. The ship is owned by Dutch Reider Shipping. The ship was hijacked in international waters in the Gulf of Aden. The crew members are 4 Russian officers and 5 Filipino seamen. It is said that all relatives of the crew members had been informed and had been offered every support available. “Amiya Scan” was carrying a knocked-down drilling rig from the Kenyan port city of Mombasa when it was seized.
