Century North Sea explorer Century Exploration has signalled its intent to drill a new exploration well on a prospect called Dolphin in block 19/2 B in the Central North Sea which is scheduled to get underway in September this year.
Century plans to drill with the Byford Dolphin semi-submersible, taking up to 30 days to drill down to the target reservoir at a depth of 2,075 m while the rig will be operating in a water depth of 83 m (272 ft).
Century, based in Watlington, near Oxford, UK, indicates that the well will be plugged and abandoned if oil or gas are found with the well, which is expected to take a total of 45 days.
The nearest infrastructure is the Talisman-operated Ross oil field, 30 km (18.75 miles) to the northeast.
