The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) has given StatoilHydro the thumbs up to drill a wildcat well with the West Alpha rig.
Well 6407/7-8 will be drilled about 16km north of the Njord field in production licence 107. The well will be the 11th to be drilled in production licence 107.
StatoilHydro will operate the well with a 20% share, along with the partners E.ON Ruhrgas 30%, Gaz de France 20%, Mobil Development Norway 20%, Petoro 7.5% and Endeavour Energy 2.5%.
The drilling permit is contingent upon the operator securing all other permits and consents required by other authorities before the drilling activity commences.
