Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority gas granted the Leiv Eiriksson drilling rig an Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC), allowing it to work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
Leiv Eiriksson received an AoC as early as April 2002. However, rig owner, Ocean Rig, previously informed the PSA that they did not wish to continue the efforts to keep the AoC updated while the facility was in operation outside the Norwegian Shelf. A
fter having considered Ocean Rig’s new application, the PSA granted a new AoC to the Leiv Eiriksson drilling facility. T
he Acknowledgement of Compliance system was made mandatory for mobile drilling facilities on 1 January 2004.
