Updating progress on UK North Sea appraisal drilling plans Elixir Petroleum has indicated its intention to drill a new well on the Northern North Sea Mulle prospect which could contain between 4 and 36 m bbl of oil.

Mulle, in block 211/22b, is close to the Causeway field already under-going development work by Antrim Energy and Elixir has indicated that Mulle is within the south west of the Osprey Ridge area and adjacent to Causeway which has previously tested at up to 14,500 b/d of oil.

Mulle was identified during drilling the Jaguar prospect well in 2006 and subsequent technical identified the potential for oil updip of the Jaguar well.

An appraisal and test programme for Mulle has been developed during the first quarter this year and a new appraisal well will seek to define the areal extent of the prospect, identify and oil/water contact area and test the ability of the Mulle reservoir to deliver oil. An online data room has been opened up to allow potential partners to joint the appraisal programme.

Elixir has 40% equity in the Mulle prospect and it is operated by DNO UK
