Canadian Natural Resources has handed Technip an engineering and procurement contract for work on its Horizon project in Alberta, Canada.
The scope of work covers the expansion of a facility converting heavy oil into lighter synthetic crude as part of Tranche 2 of the Horizon project.
The contract covers four new units: a gas recovery unit, a butane treating unit, sulphur recovery facilities, and a carbon dioxide (CO2) capture unit.
The engineering, procurement and supply of equipment and materials is worth approximately €130 million and it will be carried out from Technip’s base in Rome, Italy.
The contract is scheduled to be completed in third quarter of 2011 and it is the fourth contract awarded to Technip by Canadian Natural Resources for the same project.
