StatoilHydro has been boasting about two of its latest drilling successes as the major Norwegian oil show and conference Offshore Northern Seas kicked off in Stavanger at the start of this week.
Norway‘s biggest operator reported a find after drilling the Dagny prospect with the 15/5-7 well drilled with the Transocean Winner semi-submersible operating in a water depth of 114 m (380 ft) near the Sleipner field area in the Norwegian Sea.
Already Dagny in PL048 10 km (6.25 miles) northwest of Sleipner), is being cited with estimated reserves of between 100 and 125 m boe and could be developed using the existing Sleipner platform, suggested Tim Dodson, StatoilHydro’s senior vice president for exploration offshore Norway.
Also StatoilHydro had more to shout about with a second deepwater discovery with the 6706/12-1 well on a prospect called Snefrid South, which is just west of the previous Luva gas discovery in the Norwegian Sea in PL218, after being drilled with the Transocean Leader semi-submersible.
Snefrid South hit a 70 metres (229 ft) gas column and could contain 4 Bcm (141 Bcf) of gas, StatoilHydro has indicated, and it will be exploited as a joint development with Luva, Dodson has said.
Both finds were revealed as ONS got underway with StatoilHydro issuing statements on the new finds.
