Northern Lights, a globally recognized manufacturer of marine diesel generator sets is pleased to introduce the first in the new generation of marine power solutions – the M944T.

Producing 38kW at 60Hz, or 32kW at 50Hz, the M944T is the new industry leader in power density in the 32-40kW range. Based on a heavy-duty industrial engine block, the M944T is custom marinized and engineered for optimal marine performance.

The M944T also represents a monumental step forward in the evolution of Northern Lights marine generator sets. This new model is the first Northern Lights generator to utilize a revolutionary new frame design, in which the sound enclosure shares a base frame with the generator set, creating a compact power and sound attenuation package that reduces noise and vibration while maximizing engine room space. The design also allows for the easy installation of an additional set of vibration mounts for a smoother, quieter package with only minimal increase in height. Fuel and oil drains are located outside of the sound enclosure for easy connection and forward and rear exhaust exit options are also important design features. While the M944T is the first Northern Lights model to showcase this leap forward in design, the entire range of 5-38kW Northern Lights generator sets will receive this design treatment in the near future.

“The new design of the M944T is a very important step forward for Northern Lights,” said Colin Puckett, Northern Lights manager of marketing and sales administration. “The configuration of the base frame and sound enclosure leads to numerous benefits, including ease of installation in both new build and re-power applications and improved overall access in a clean, compact, powerful package.”

Easily customizable, the M944T is an ideal system for vessels looking for increased power in the footprint of a 25-33kW machine. “The increasing power requirements of today’s yachts call for a power solution that can reliably power complex systems at full load, without dominating the engine room,” said Puckett. “The M944T answers that challenge with space and power to spare.”

Launching at the Miami International Boat Show, the M944T will be available for delivery in spring 2009.
