Mr Hazewinkel nominated as additional member Supervisory Board Smit Internationale N.V.

SMIT today announces that the Supervisory Board shall nominate Mr. H. J. (Herman) Hazewinkel (59) as new and fifth member of the Supervisory Board for appointment on SMIT’s Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 6 May 2009. SMIT earlier expressed its intention to expand the Supervisory Board in its Annual Report 2007 and during its Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 9 May 2008. Mr. F.E.L. Dorhout Mees will be nominated for reappointment as member of the Supervisory Board at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders in 2009.

Mr. Hazewinkel recently (end 2008) stepped down as chairman of the Management Board at VolkerWessels. Currently, he is chairman of the Supervisory Board of – amongst others – TKH Group N.V. and North Sea Petroleum Holding B.V. and a member of – amongst others – the Supervisory Board of VolkerWessels and Zeeman Groep B.V. He is nominated for appointment to the Supervisory Board of N.V. Luchthaven Schiphol.
