It is a major benchmark but still a bittersweet time in the history of the Lower Fox River. The largest portion of the country’s largest government-ordered river clean-up project is scheduled to start in May. The entire project is expected to span nine years and cost $600 million.
Georgia-Pacific, NCR and Appleton Paper hired Tetra Tech Inc. as the prime remediation contractor. Tetra Tech hired Netherlands-based Boskalis Dolman to design the dewatering process and J.F. Brennan Co., Inc. of La Crosse to do the dredging and capping of PCB-sediment that remains in the river.
