Søren Thorup Sørensen has decided to resign as Group CFO of A.P. Møller – Mærsk A/S and leaves the Group as of 31 May 2009.

Søren Thorup Sørensen joined the Group in July 2006 as Group CFO of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group and was appointed Partner in Firmaet A.P. Møller on 1 July 2007.

Nils Smedegaard Andersen: ”With his comprehensive knowledge and professional competencies, Søren Thorup Sørensen has immaculately performed the position as Group CFO, and Søren Thorup Sørensen deserves great appreciation for the cooperation. We will make temporary, internal changes of the organisation in order to cover Søren Thorup Sørensen’s areas of responsibility, until we find a permanent solution.”

Søren Thorup Sørensen: “After almost three years as Group CFO with A.P. Moller – Maersk, I have to realise that, for some time, the heavy work load has been damaging to my health. I have therefore decided to leave my position and the Group. The timing seems right after the annual report and the Q1 announcement.”

Michael Pram Rasmussen: ”This is a personal decision that Søren Thorup Sørensen has made. We highly value Søren Thorup Sørensen’s huge effort in the Group, but at the same time, we accept and respect Søren Thorup Sørensen’s decision.”
