Mid 2008 Hertel D&O signed a € 38 million contract with the Dutch yard Keppel Verolme for the design, construction, installation and outfitting of a newly built 199 men accommodation for the semi-submersible multi service vessel ‘MSV Regalia’. The ‘MSV Regalia’ is owned by Prosafe Rigs Pte Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Prosafe SE. A comprehensive refurbishment programme for the existing accommodation was also part of the scope of work.

In May 2009, within one year after start of the activities, the project was successfully completed with an on-time delivery.

The activities included basic design, detailed design, procurement, fabrication up to and including final delivery, complying with the demanding Norsok standards. Hertel D&O was able to meet the stringent deadline through using prefabricated cabins manufactured by McGill Services, the UK division of Hertel D&O. The concept, based on plug & play philosophy, allowed an aggressive project schedule, parallel construction of the prefabricated cabins in the UK whilst the steel structures were being fabricated in the Netherlands. The concept resulted in improved safety performance, testing and pre- commissioning possibilities of the individual cabins and an enhanced quality level.

The on-time delivery at the required quality levels shows the great capabilities of the joint Hertel D&O organisations in combination with their partners, suppliers and subcontractors.
