Residents of a Suffolk town have reported smelling gas after a ship vented fumes offshore. Energy company Transco said people in Lowestoft had been contacting their call centre with reports of the smell. Suffolk Fire Service said the cause was a gas cloud coming from an empty tanker which had vented fumes about nine miles south east of the town.
