The rejection of the European Shippers Council of the Rotterdam Rules is not shared by the Dutch and American shippers. The American NIT reproaches the ESC ‘lack of insight’ in the new system which is taken all things together in fact more favourable to shippers. The Dutch EVO does not agree with the negative conclusion of the ESC. Its objections are recognized by the EVO, but based on advantages and disadvantages it comes to another verdict then its Brussels umbrella organisation. Therefore EVO advises the Dutch government to ratify. The Dutch forwarders organisation Fenex wants to speak with the Dutch government on some difficult points before making a final decision. The European forwarders organisation Clecat calls for a rejection. The RR will become effective when twenty countries in the world have ratified.
