Modern and innovative solutions will be required to win the “Targa Bonetto” to be awarded during SEATEC 2010. The competition open to students from schools and universities of Design and Architecture throughout the world is divided into two sections: Technological Innovation under the title “Medium-sized Boats” and Infrastructures under the title “Pleasure Ports”. The three projects selected for the first three prizes will be on show at Seatec from 10 to 12 February
Seatec 2010, the 8th International Exhibition for technology, subcontracting and design for boats, yachts and ships due to be held at the CarraraFiere exhibition centre from 10 to 12 February 2010, and Design Center, represented by Marco Bonetto, have presented the competition for the sixteenth Targa Rodolfo Bonetto with the sections Technological Innovation and Infrastructures. The competition is open to students of all ages and nationalities from schools and universities of Architecture and Design.
The title of this year’s Infrastructures Section is “Pleasure Ports”. Students should present projects for the renovation of an existing port. The reference given in the competition is the port of Viareggio.
The title of the Technological Innovation section is “Medium-sized Boats” (maximum size of sailing boats 55’, motor boats 50’), open or liveable. The projects should embody “the design and study of the most suitable shape for the use of technology for low cost production, for the possibility of developing a serial production of the concepts put forward”.
The projects selected by the Jury chaired by Marco Bonetto and composed of five leading authorities from the worlds of industry, design and culture will be shown in a special area during the three days of Seatec 2010, from 10 to 12 February, with the prize-giving ceremony on the first day.
The award, set up by Marco Bonetto in 1991 in honour of his father Rodolfo Bonetto (1929-1991), one of the important masters of Italian design, is now in its 16th year. For a few years now it has been held at the Seatec, the exhibition hosting the best of technology and products for ships and yachts that is now considered the most prestigious venue for events related to nautical design. In line with Rodolfo Bonetto’s philosophy, the Targa Bonetto aims to encourage the participation of young people and is open to students from schools and universities of Design and Architecture from all over the world, including young graduates who have completed their final dissertation on the subject.
Participation in the competition is free of charge. Registration must take place by and no later than 30th October 2009 and the projects should arrive by 4 December 2009.
