This year, the two northern inland terminals of Groningen and Meppel expect to equal the 2008 throughput of some 50,000 containers (approx. 80,000 TEU). Both terminals are connected to Rotterdam by two inland vessels of 156 TEU, calling four times a week. Some 45 trucks are taking care of the transport of approx. 27,000 boxes of Meppel and 23,000 of Groningen to and from the shippers in the north.
