Trelleborg Offshore Boston, Inc., the world’s most advanced manufacturer of high- performance syntactic foams for the marine, offshore, defense and aerospace markets, has appointed Ed Urquhart as President.

Ed is targeted with leading concerted mid- and long-term growth for the company (formerly known as Trelleborg Emerson and Cuming Inc.) through a program of sales development, operational improvements and innovative Research and Development.

Ed joins Trelleborg from Märkisches Werk, Germany where he implemented a program of lean marketing and manufacture to transform a conservative industrial manufacturer into a highly profitable, industry-leading innovator. In addition to Ed’s operational expertise, he brings extensive sales and marketing experience, and uses his engineering background to drive technical and product development.

“Trelleborg Offshore has a solid reputation as the leading manufacturer in its field in defense, aerospace tooling products and buoyancy materials for the marine and offshore markets,” says Ed. Through a determined product development program we plan to carve out larger application areas for our technologies, serving a more diverse customer base.

“I would like to have our factories held up as best practice models for high- tech batch and short run manufacturing and, as a result of generating additional profit revenues, be able to invest even more into innovation while continuing to be a net contributor to Trelleborg Offshore.”
