Leading Scottish fabrication and engineering company Isleburn has secured North Sea contracts totaling nearly £5million with BP for two projects which will be assembled in its new facility at Invergordon.
Isleburn, which is part of the Global Energy Group, will fabricate a 120 metre long caisson for the Andrew platform in the Kinnoul field as well as a 245 tonne manifold and 65 tonne subsea isolation valve structure for the Devenick field.
Work on the projects, involving an estimated total of more than 40,000 man hours and a workforce of 100, will begin immediately at Isleburn’s facilities around the Cromarty Firth, with the structures being assembled at the new facility at Invergordon Service Base for load-out next March.
Isleburn’s Chief Operating Officer Neil MacArthur was delighted to secure the major contracts as construction of the state-of-the-art fabrication assembly shop reaches completion.
He said: “This is excellent news for us as a company and helps secure work for our current workforce. It is also good news for the area as contracts like these provide good jobs for the skilled and experienced local labour pool and welcome opportunities for suppliers and other local businesses.
“Investing several million pounds in building our new assembly facility at Invergordon was a big decision for us earlier this year, particularly at a time of downturn in the oil and gas sector. However, it was clear to us and the board of the Global Energy Group that to be able to continue to bring large-scale projects to the Cromarty Firth we needed a suitably sized building to assemble structures and the deep water to ship them out from the port.
“Global Construction, who are the principal contractor in the construction of the new build facility, have done an excellent job for us in getting it ready on schedule and we are delighted to have secured this major work from BP as the facility reaches completion.
“Isleburn continue to be extremely busy on a number of projects in our other facilities in the Cromarty Firth area and are actively tendering for new work in all the sectors in which we operate to secure further projects for both this excellent new facility and our other facilities around Scotland.”
Isleburn, whose headquarters are in Evanton, Ross-shire, is also currently working on other fabrication projects for BP, valued at £4million, for the company’s operations in Block 18 and 31 off Angola.
Recently fabrication and engineering companies Forfab and OIL Engineering joined the Isleburn brand following their acquisition by Global. The move established Isleburn as one of Scotland’s largest manufacturers of bespoke products to a range of energy sector markets, with annual revenues in excess of £75 million and facilities in Aberdeen and Dunfermline, as well as on the Cromarty Firth.
