Emden. The Bard Group and the Spanish Gamesa have terminated their negotiations over a possible co-operation. This was communicated by both companies in corresponding declarations.
“We have learned from the talks, that our positions on the conditions of a co-operation in the offshore area were too far apart”, said Heiko Ross, Managing Director of BARD Holding GmbH from Emden. While BARD is focused exclusively on offshore wind energy, the Spanish company has so far been only working on the installation of wind turbines on land.
According to Mr. Ross other parties have already signalled their interest in co-operating with the family led business already during the negotiations with Gamesa which started in spring.
These talks will be continued. BARD offers an attractive turn-key concept for offshore wind farms from the project development of offshore wind farms to the production of offshore wind turbines until the construction and operation of offshore wind power plants at sea.
BARD is currently constructing the first commercial offshore wind farm in the German high sea 100km northwest of Borkum. According to Mr. Ross, already 5 of the in total 80 wind turbines have been installed. Very shortly the residential and transformer platform will be operational in the wind farm, so that the first offshore electricity can be transmitted from the site to the onshore grid. In mid July the SuedWestStrom Windpark GmbH from Tuebingen/Germany, a co-operative of local utilities from Germany, Lichtenstein, Luxembourg and Austria has decided to invest into the project. “BARD Offshore 1” has a nominal capacity of 400 MW and shall be finished in autumn of 2011.
