Offshore foundation company Seatower have appointed Trond Kjetil Nodberg as new Vice President of Marine Operations. Nodberg comes from a position of Vice President at Aker Marine Contractors.

Oslo-based Seatower is the company behind the Cranefree concept for offshore wind, which features self-installing gravity foundations designed for scalable and efficient production. “I am thrilled to join an innovative and ambitious company that brings offshore oil & gas expertise and technology to offshore wind”, says Trond Kjetil Nodberg. “After almost 30 years in the oil & gas sector, I want to focus on clean energy for the future. Seatower is an exciting place to do just that.”

Seatower are equally excited about having Mr. Nodberg on the team. “Nodberg will be a key member of our top management”, says CEO Petter J. Karal. “His unique experience from difficult projects and marine operations will further strengthen our project execution expertise, which is one of our key assets.”

The European offshore wind market grew at 54% in 2009 and is expected to grow by 75% in 2010 to €3bn. More than 100GW of projects are at various stages of planning and could provide enough power to meet 10 per cent of European electricity demand. With the greatest activity expected in the UK and Germany, offshore wind is entering an era that could dwarf even the North Sea oil & gas boom.

Trond Kjetil Nodberg has close to 30 years experience in marine contracting and engineering. Prior to joining Seatower, he was Vice President at Aker Marine Contractors. He has also been project manager for large marine projects and held engineering positions at Norsk Hydro, Coflexip Stena Offshore, Norwegian Contractors and Kvaerner Engineering. Trond Kjetil holds an M.Sc. from the Norwegian Institute of Technology and an MBA from Bond University.

Seatower is an EPCI supplier of foundations for offshore wind turbines, met masts and substations. The unique Cranefree technology – based on principles from the offshore oil & gas sector – enables offshore wind projects at deeper waters to be executed cost efficiently with minimized risk. Seatower deliver in cooperation with world-class partners within fabrication, construction and marine operations.
