Statoil has received consent to carry out plugging, sidetrack drilling and completion of wells with the Stena Don mobile facility.
The consent applies to the wells 31/5-J-14H, 31/5-J-14 AY1H and 31/5-J-14 AY2H, which are part of production licences 054 and 085.
The planned start-up of operations on Troll will be as soon as the facility is ready for operations for Statoil. The expected start-up date is at the end of November, but could be as soon as 15 October 2010. The plans are based on the earliest start-up.
The activity has an expected duration of approx. 16 months.
Stena Don (photo), which is operated by Stena Drilling, is a Sonat/Hitachi designed, semi-submersible drilling facility, built in 2001. An Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) was granted in March 2002.
The facility underwent a classification inspection at the Westcon yard in Ølen in the fall of 2004. Since then, Stena Don has drilled production wells for Snøhvit and Norne, as well as several exploration wells for Statoil, Hydro and Eni in the Barents Sea.
Stena Don underwent a classification inspection at Keppel Verlome in Rotterdam in the winter of 2010.
