In October Cargotec has secured EUR 10 million order from the Sinopacific Group in China for the supply of a further 16-shipsets of anchor-handling systems for BOURBON’s newbuildings. The shipsets will be delivered between April 2011 and February 2012.

This contract follows an order placed in June this year for four ships in the same series, the first shipset is scheduled for delivery in Q1/2011.

The systems will be installed on anchor handling and tug supply (AHTS) vessels based on an SPA80 design and built by Zhejiang Shipyard. This design was jointly developed by major offshore oil and gas services company BOURBON and its partner Shanghai Design Associates (SDA).

“The systems employ proven technologies already specified for 54 Bourbon Liberty 200 series AHTS vessels, of which more than 30 have been delivered so far,” explains Francis Wong, Cargotec’s sales director for offshore load handling. “The safe and efficient AHTS equipment, with state-of-the art technology, has been specially designed and manufactured to meet BOURBON’s operational requirements in continental offshore markets, as well as deepwater offshore fields.

Equipment being supplied includes: anchor windlass, anchor handling/towing winch, tugger winches, capstans, storage reel, power pack, and shark jaws/towing pins. “These orders also highlight the success of Cargotec’s newly-implemented integrated marketing strategy for new sales and service products and systems, which will result in equipment maintenance agreements following the entry of these ships into service,” Mr Wong says.

“Orders such as these confirm Cargotec’s ability to secure its leading position as a provider of MacGregor solutions in three offshore load-handling segments: subsea load handling, anchor handling and deck and tug machinery”.
