IHC Hytop, part of IHC Merwede, has announced that its riser pull-in package has successfully pulled in the first three risers on a MODEC FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessel.
The FPSO vessel is currently deployed off the coast of Brazil by MODEC and operated by the contractor on behalf of its customer. It is capable of processing 100,000 barrels of oil per day or 150,000 barrels of total liquids per day, five million cubic metres of gas per day, and has a storage capacity of approximately 1.6 million barrels. The FPSO unit can handle H2S and CO2 removal, and is capable of re-injecting CO2 back down hole at 550 bar – in addition to exporting sales gas to shore.
The FPSO will initially gather production from five subsea wells with the capability to handle four additional production wells in the future. It will be installed in a water depth of 2,150 metres.
The following turn-key equipment packages were ordered by MODEC for delivery by IHC Hytop:
• two offloading systems, including the tandem mooring system
• two central hydraulic 600kW power units with motor control centre
• one integrated riser pull-in package.
The riser pull-in package consisted of the following innovative products: a sheave trolley system designed by IHC Offshore Systems; riser pull-in winch (designed for 550mT maximum line pull); and two auxiliary pull-in winches (150mT maximum line pull). This integrated equipment package was initiated successfully on the first riser pull-in for the project.
