North Sea player Antrim Energy is expanding its operations in South America by taking a 50% stake in a new exploration permit. Antrim has agreed to acquire 50.1% in the Cerro Los Leones Exploration Concession area in Argentina’s Neuquen Basin, which is near to producing oil fields which are thought to have recoverable reserves of between 15 and 30 million barrels of oil. Sixteen previous wells on the acreage have reported oil and gas shows.
