Dominant position prompts vessel sale

Acergy and Subsea 7 have been urged to consider selling vessels because of their “dominant position” in the North Sea, says the UK’s Office of Fair Trading. Britain’s OFT has signalled that the merger of the two companies would not raise concerned relating to offshore diving or construction and remote intervention, “..because the merged firm would continue to face significant competition from a number of other service providers in these specific areas,” said the OFT in a statement on the proposed merger of the two companies.
