A group that supports good fishing on Lake Champlain is hailing the results of efforts to control populations of sea lamprey in the lake. A cooperative involving the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service used the chemical lampricide TFM in five rivers feeding Lake Champlain in September in a bid to kill off lamprey, which attach themselves to fish and weaken them.
