Australian energy company Santos today confirmed it would donate $500,000 to help Queensland communities recover from the current extensive flooding across the state.
Santos will make a contribution to the following initiatives:
* $200,000 to provide direct assistance to Queensland farmers through an Agforce support program
* $75,000 to the Central Highlands Regional Council
* $75,000 to Banana Shire Council
* $50,000 to Maranoa Regional Council
* $100,000 to the Premier’s Relief Fund
Chief Executive David Knox said the thoughts of people across Santos were with all Queenslanders hit by the floods.
“This is a very difficult time and our hearts go out to those families affected,” Mr Knox said.
“We are continuing to provide the use of our helicopters, all terrain vehicles and boats to assist in clean-up efforts, and are pleased to add to this with financial support.”
Santos has extensive coal seam gas operations around Roma, and is the largest shareholder in the proposed GLNG project to be constructed in Gladstone.
Santos Vice President Queensland Rick Wilkinson said: “While Santos’ coal seam gas production has not been impacted, the company is pleased to assist our neighbouring Central Highlands and Banana shires, which have been more severely affected by the floods.”
