The Port of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has announced that it wants to raise the roadway of the Bayonne Bridge to overcome the navigational clearance restriction. Following a comprehensive review of numerous alternatives, PANYNJ said that raising the bridge was the most cost-effective solution, rather than building a new bridge or constructing a road tunnel.
