Kåre Holthe & Sønner AS recently delivered ‘FF Torra’ to its new owner AquaCulture Engineering (ACE), part of the Norwegian research institution Sintef.

The Stinger 1300 HP-TWJ is a quick response 13.5m aluminium work boat powered by twin Iveco N60 ENT M37 370 mhp (272 kW) diesel engines and is propelled by twin UltraJet 305HT (High Thrust) waterjets. With an operating weight of 10 tonne the craft has a top speed of 33 knots.

This vessel is the 33rd of its kind. The fully outfitted Stinger is an extremely effective purpose built craft and will do service as a research vessel transporting scientists and engineers’ out to a large test plant for fish farming in the middle of Norway.

The proven manoeuvrability of the UltraJets is enhanced by the robust UltraJet hydro-mechanical control system which allows the operator directional and speed control for low speed research duties and docking manoeuvres.
