Belfast Harbour and the Danish renewable energy company, Dong Energy, have signed a letter of intent to transform a 50-acre area of the harbour into a offshore wind turbine manufacturing complex. The Harbour is looking to fund the construction of a 450m quay at a cost of GBP40m, creating 150 construction jobs and 300 full-time jobs on completion. The proposed platform is expected to be commissioned in 2013.
