Russia-headquartered Global Ports Investments (GPI) has reported strong throughput growth at its stevedoring companies, recovering almost to pre-crisis levels. Owned by N-Trans group – the largest private transportation operator in Russia, CIS and the Baltic countries – GPI handled 1,095,625teu of containers, 59,463 ro-ro units (including cars) and 19.2 million tonnes of other cargo (including oil) in 2010. Compared to 2009, the volume of containers handled rose by 81%, ro-ro cargo increased by 60% and other cargo climbed 7.4%.
