2H Offshore, an Acteon company, has been awarded a contract by Chevron USA Inc. for the detailed design and delivery management of the riser systems for its Big Foot field development.

The Big Foot field is owned by Chevron USA Inc. (operator) and other working interest owners, including but not limited to Statoil Gulf of Mexico LLC. It is located in the Gulf of Mexico Walker Ridge Block 29, where a dry tree drilling and production tension-leg platform (TLP) facility will be installed in approximately 1600 m (5200 ft) of water.

2H Offshore will be responsible for the detailed design and procurement management of the riser systems, which will comprise 2 high-pressure drilling risers, 15 production/water injection top tensioned risers (TTR) and oil and gas export steel catenary risers. The scope includes system integration, procurement services and offshore installation support of the TTRs and export riser systems. The 2H office in Houston will be responsible for the contract and the execution of this work.

“This is an important award for us,” said Ricky Thethi, vice president at 2H Offshore Inc. , and project manager for the Big Foot contract. “The project award globally reinforces 2H as a leading riser engineering contractor. 2H is very pleased to be engineering these riser systems for the deepest TLP to date and looks forward to meeting the challenges of the typical deepwater Gulf of Mexico environmental issues. The riser integrator strategy selected by Chevron will facilitate a better optimised system design, increased flexibility in hardware selection and improved oper ability compared with many previous projects.”

2H Offshore, an Acteon company, specialises in the analysis, design, procurement and integrity monitoring of complex marine riser systems. The company is established at the leading edge of technology for deepwater developments, where risers are subject to complex loading conditions and operating regimes, and has pioneered response-monitoring techniques aimed at enhancing riser performance.
