Fresh from winning the Best Power 24-40 m prize at the ISS Design & Leadership Awards, the Moonen 124 Northlander has also now been nominated as a finalist in the Motor Boat of the Year Awards 2011. And with the nomination of the Moonen 97 Livia as a finalist in the Best Displacement Motor Yacht of below 500GT category at the Boat International World Superyacht Awards, it is clear that Moonen Shipyards is on a roll…

The annual Motor Boat of the Year Awards by the magazines Motor Boat & Yachting and Motor Boats Monthly celebrate the very best in boat design and construction. Northlander is a finalist in the custom yacht category. “After the recent victory in a Stateside award ceremony we are very pleased to also receive this major recognition in Europe,” comments Emile Bilterijst, Managing Director of Moonen Shipyards.

“While the appreciation of our owners and clients remains the paramount barometer for success, there is no doubt that recognition from our industry colleagues is of considerable importance. We felt that Northlander, the largest project launched by Moonen to date, was one of the best motoryachts of her size available on the market today. These awards confirm this conviction.” The yard is currently building an even larger yacht for a repeat owner: The first Moonen 137, complete with her own submarine, is scheduled for delivery in 2012. Bilterijst is equally pleased that the Moonen 97 Livia, another of the new additions to the global Moonen fleet, has been nominated as a finalist at the Boat International World Superyacht Awards. “Since her launch last year Livia has been very well received, with her original ‘New England/American Beach House’ interior being complemented by all who come aboard. She is the third yacht in this line of 30-metre steel-hulled displacement cruisers, with the fourth Moonen 97 due to be completed just in time for the new season. This nomination is sure to speed up the process of finding the right owner for this exciting project.”
