Recently, members of the management of the Oil and gas service provider Dockwise, met an Amarcon delegation, to celebrate their ongoing relationship. Reason for this celebration is the completion of OCTOPUS-Onboard installations on all fifteen Dockwise vessels.
The latest OCTOPUS-Onboard installation was executed on board of the Teal vessel in Rotterdam in December 2010.
Dockwise uses the OCTOPUS-Onboard software for the purposes of ship motion monitoring and decision support during Heavy Lift transport operations. Besides this general functionality, the Dockwise fleet is also equipped with additional functionality that meets the specific needs of Heavy lift transportation companies. The OCTOPUS-Onboard extension TMS with the three sensor setup (TMS-3) is used in the Heavy Lift and Offshore & Dredging market. TMS-3 provides virtual real-time measurement of motions, velocities and accelerations in any thinkable location on the vessel, such as CoG of the cargo or a high point in a leg of a jackup rig. In addition to this, additional sensors can be placed on the cargo to measure the cargo motions.
During the meeting, mutual expectations and plans for further collaboration in the near future were reviewed in an informal setting. The Amarcon delegation also congratulated Dockwise with the appointment of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) in Korea for their new build Type 0 super vessel. The vessel that is unique in its kind because of the exceptional size is scheduled to be delivered in 2012.
