Petrobras announces that all arrangements have already been made for platform Cherne 2 (PCH2) to resume its operations. Production resumption was authorized today (02/17). Permission was granted after the issuing of a report based on the inspection that was carried out last February 14 by Rio de Janeiro Regional Labor and Employment Superintendence (SRTE/RJ) inspectors.
According to the Superintendence, there is no more “serious and imminent risk in the work environment,” a fact that makes it possible to partially suspend the closure.
The platform will resume its operations in the next few hours, with partial production at the same levels as those in force prior to the stoppage. The auxiliary oil transfer system will be used to retake production. The main system will remain stopped.
The unit’s total capacity will be reached after the scheduled maintenance shutdown, which has been planned since November of 2010 and will get underway in February.
The Cherne field is located in the Campos Basin and the Cherne 2 fixed platform went on stream in 1988 at a water depth of 142 meters. The platform is located 55 kilometers off the coast.
