Blue Offshore and Integrated Subsea Services have completed their feasibility study on the possible use of multipurpose DP2 vessel Normand Tonjer for array cable installation on offshore wind farms.
The scope of the study included development of deck layouts for cable installation and cable burial together with vessel properties, mobilisation and installation strategies.
Blue Offshore director Gerard Kroese concludes: “We believe that Normand Tonjer is suitable for conducting subsea cable installation and burial operations. In fact, the addition of cable lay and burial equipment on top of the existing ROV, survey and air diving capabilities will make Normand Tonjer one of the most versatile dynamically positioned vessels in the renewable energy industry.”
“ The capabilities of the Normand Tonjer and its operating team have been demonstrated in the range of survey, diving and ROV services provided to renewables projects over the past year ,” says David Gault , Renewables Department Manager at Integrated Subsea Services (ISS). “ This study shows that the vessel could also be a cost-effective answer to the shortage of capacity for installing array cables on offshore wind farms. ”
