Ocean Energy 2011 will return to Brussels on 22-23 June 2011. Following on from last year’s successful inaugural event, the EU-OEA and Green Power Conferences have teamed up again to offer attendees an unparalleled opportunity to connect with the leading technology developers, policy makers, industrial players, supply chain partners, utilities and investors.

This year’s event will focus on the next steps to commercialisation and will create a networking platform for the European ocean energy community. Policy makers, potential investors and supply chain partners will come together to examine the business and socio-economic opportunities offered by the growing ocean energy industry.

Event highlights will include addresses from the European Commission, major utilities, member states, original equipment manufacturers and the EIB.

Senior policy makers from the European Commission and member states will outline the steps they are taking to commercialise this promising new sector, including public funding plans, policy development, deploying the first arrays and private finance investment in the sector.

Leading industry figures will showcase their technologies and will highlight the challenges and opportunities they are facing, and major industrial and VC investors will present their views on the potential of this emerging market.

Presentations from a first class line up of developers and investors will highlight the supply chain opportunities which a thriving marine energy sector will offer across the European Union.

Attendees will receive advice, understand the regulatory environment, meet directors and hear updates from leading utilities and OEMs who have sponsored full-scale prototype projects. In a series of best practice case studies they will share their knowledge of how to secure finance, what the key technical and regulatory challenges to success are, and what led them to select the technologies they did.
