Intensifying competition in the shipbuilding industry leads to enormous cost pressure. As the main part of costs is fixed at the start of production, cost management in the early shipbuilding phases is especially effective. Against this background, the Conference “Cost Management in Shipbuilding” (Amsterdam, 14 April 2011, 4.00 pm) will offer the opportunity to learn about methods and systems supporting cost planning, cost analyzing and cost reduction in the process of naval engineering.

A basic topic of the meeting is the software solution “costfact”. This system was developed especially for cost management in shipbuilding. costfact supports the planning and control of the product’s costs throughout all of the shipbuilding phases. Furthermore, prospective costs of the whole life cycle, including the in-service phase, can be controlled by costfact.

In costfact’s development process, the expertise of several German shipyards was integrated. To our knowledge, costfact is the first and unique cost management solution worldwide that is specially developed for the maritime industry.

For further information on the conference and registration until 18 March please visit www.costfact.de/conference.php
