The new 46m ketch Christopher is now on its way to the St Barths Bucket Regatta in the West Indies, following a two year build programme at the Pendennis shipyard in Cornwall, England. Veritais designed, specified, installed and commissioned the high-definition audio-visual system on board.
The system has been built around a central computer that provides the software and processing power for media distribution, and which in turn interfaces with the yacht’s main data system to allow single-point control. An NAS server with 6 terabytes of memory has been installed to store thousands of conventional and high definition movies along with tens of thousands of music tracks for streaming to any location on board. Throughout the build there was close liaison with the owner via Palm Beach Yachts International to ensure that the system has progressing in accordance with his wishes and regular updates were presented to ensure that what was delivered met with his approval.
A total of ten screens of varying sizes have been fitted, the largest a 46-inch set in the saloon and the smallest eight 10-inch monitors installed in each of the crew bunks. The owner and guest areas have full Blu-ray systems along with access to satellite TV channels. Each zone also has Apple TV – a digital media receiver designed to store and play digital content originated from iTunes – giving access to additional broadcast content, and each can additionally be controlled either by a dedicated single remote control or by using an iTouch, iPad or iPhone equipped with the necessary app.
Additional features installed by Veritais include: o A party mode that transforms the saloon, main deck, owner’s deck and owner’s study into a single zone for music or other entertainment o An HD projector in the cockpit directed at a 3m wide screen that lowers down from the cockpit deckhead, for the full, open-air cinema experience. o A dedicated gaming area situated in the saloon together with four pairs of privacy headphones. o A chartplotter interface to enable the owners, guests and captain to view navigation data on the screens in their respective cabins. o And finally the system additionally links into the yacht’s closed-circuit TV system for enhanced security and safety.
All the speakers throughout the yacht are to Audiophile standard.
